Colour Explosion
Ink and Watercolour pencils on an old Book page.
I will be using this book as an occasional sketch book.
I was inspired to do this after being stuck (artist block) for the past few months.
Then when I saw some works by Salena and some by Loui Jover on Redbubble this really inspired me to pick up a brush again resulting in this COLOUR EXPLOSION.

Solo Exhibition Nov - 2 - 2009
I will be holding a solo exhibition at the Hervey Bay Visitor Information Centre from the 2nd of November till the 13th of Dec.
Also see below my latest acrylic painting which is the view of Fraser Island from under the Urangan Pier. These Paintings are so much fun with heaps of Acrylic paint and some double washed sand added too (see close up). With so much paint on the canvas at one time it's a great time to get super expressive, although at the same time being careful as one wrong move and it is a lot harder to correct than traditional acrylic painting.

Magpie Plein air at Pomona lettuce farm.

I was driving back home from Maroochydore and had decided I was going to do a plein air painting somewhere along the way.I bought some supplies at the eckersley's art and craft store and the lady that owns the place was nice enough to give me a tub to fill with water for my brush's.
I thought this was an awesome gesture and very helpful as it was a totally spur of the moment idea and had nothing bar the canvas, paint, ink and brushes I was buying.
I saw Mt Cooroora off the side of the highway as I was coming into Pomona, but every time I saw a view of it there was nowhere to pull over on the side of the road. It is quite a dangerous stretch of road so I decided to pull into a side road as soon as I could to try and find a spot to view the mountain without being right next to the highway. As I was getting closer to Mt. Cooroora I saw this beautiful little lettuce farm in the afternoon light, I just had to pull over and paint it. I started by painting the background with a metallic pearl silver then when that had dried I got straight into painting the landscape with black carbon ink. Sketching away and a magpie jumped up all proud on the post in front of me, I quickly sketched his outline in before he jumped off and flew away.I met the man who owns the farm and it turns out they also have a bed and breakfast there too you can see they’re web site here Inn the Foothills Pomona Mt Cooroora I will definitely be staying there sometime soon as it is a real Gem. When I got home I finished the painting off with a wash of acrylic paint and the black ink. Then I painted the magpie with white acrylic and once again the black carbon ink.

Charcoal and Acrylic on Canvas
This Drawing on Canvas was done literally whilst standing in the rain. It was so much fun and cannot wait to I get the opportunity to do it again. I wanted to do this piece about 2 months ago after I saw a painting that Ivan (from findIvandotcom) had started in the rain.(Ivans pieces are in my favorites on youtube you can find his page through the link on the right). This really inspired me as normally I would not have thought to even dare take a canvas out into the rain. Of course since I have wanted to do the piece it has not rained. I went out last Saturday when it started raining and then when I was all set up... it stopped. So when it started raining the next Tuesday Night at 10pm I had to do it. Originally I had planned to do a charcoal drawing on canvas in the rain, during the day which ended up being a charcoal and acrylic on canvas in the rain, during the night. Painted on the corner of Chalrton Esplanade and pier street, Urangan Hervey Bay. Across the road is JTH real estate, Murray Charteris's Gallery and peppers pier resort. Behind me is Urangan Pier.

Ghost Hill Hervey Bay Plein Air
"Ghost Hill, Plein Air"
From the top of Ghost Hill Hervey Bay I painted this canvas "Plein Air style" using Black Ink. "Plein Air" is French for in the open air and is a style of art I really enjoy. I met a local bloke who lives in the area and explained to him that it is one of my favorite subjects to paint. I asked him if he knew the story of Ghost Hill and he was the first person that Ive asked that knows the actual story.
Apparently when the settlers were walking from Dundowran / Craignish through the bush and up over the hill there was an eerie fog at the top of the hill and no where else to be seen. Normally in these parts if there is fog about it's generally in low lying areas like at the bottom of the hills. So this was out of the ordinary and is why it was named "Ghost Hill".
The View from half way up Ghost Hill.
A couple more paintings of Ghost Hill
I painted last year using watercolours and charcoal.

Save the Dingo "Acrylic and pastel on canvas"

You can also view this piece on my youtube page hereVideo of Save the Dingoes on Fraser Island
I was inspired to create this piece as so many dingoes on Fraser Island are being killed under the instruction of the Queensland Government. This is due to dingo attacks on humans.
Dingoes were once common on the island, but are now decreasing. They are some of the last remaining pure dingoes in Australia and some say the World. There was no recorded history of dingoes attacking humans on Fraser Island up until 1995. In April 2001, a boy wandered away from his family and was discovered dead, with indications of a dingo attack. Thirty-one dingoes were killed by authorities as a result of the incident. Caution with dingoes when on Fraser Island is mandatory for all people on the island. Feeding or attracting the attention of dingoes remains illegal and can incur fines of up to $3000. The remaining number of dingoes on the island is estimated to be only approx. 100 and sightings are becoming rarer.
8 Dingoes have been killed on Fraser Island this year already and with only about 100 hundred of them left, only mating once a year this does not give them a very promising future.
Here is a link to the IUCN Website page for Canis Lupis Dingoes. ICUN stands for The International Union for Conservation of Nature.
